    Laurie DeYoung is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Gordon & Rees. Ms. DeYoung has substantive expertise in labor, employment, professional liability, financial services and general commercial litigation. She streamlines litigation by employing results driven, cost-effective and innovative big picture strategy from the outset of litigation. She has handled hundreds of depositions; written and argued dispositive motions; prepared and tried cases to the bench and jury; defeated class certification motions and participated in successful class settlement proceedings; participated in arbitrations, mediations and settlement conferences for plaintiffs and defendants and has briefed and argued matters before the state and federal courts of appeal.

    Community Involvement

    Ms. DeYoung was elected Chairperson of the Culver City Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee which received applications and approved of a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the newly revitalized neighborhood of Culver City.

    Representative Experience

    Ms. DeYoung successfully defeated a class certification motion brought by restaurant and hotel workers that alleged wage and hour violations. Ms. DeYoung also successfully defeated class certification in an action brought by a law firm client who claimed her retainer agreement was unfair. Ms. DeYoung obtained summary judgment (upheld in the Court of Appeal) in an action brought by a 53 year old middle manager for an international sports equipment company who alleged age discrimination after being terminated as part of a reduction in force.
