Debra Ellwood Meppen and Brenda Radmacher Recognized as Women of Influence by Los Angeles Business Journal

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Los Angeles partners Debra Ellwood Meppen and Brenda Radmacher have been named Women of Influence by Los Angeles Business Journal.  

Los Angeles Business Journal’s Women of Influence honors Los Angeles’ most influential women attorneys. It recognizes those with exceptional legal skills, significant achievement and tireless contribution.  Debra Ellwood Meppen and Brenda Radmacher were both chosen because they exemplify these very standards, and have demonstrated excellent leadership, the highest professional and ethical standards, and for their independent contributions to the Los Angeles community at large. 

The attorneys honored were selected from hundreds of nominations. Selections are based upon each lawyer’s professional success, ratings, and impact upon the Los Angeles community.

Debra Ellwood Meppen is a litigation partner and is the Chair of the Firm's National Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. She also heads the firm's Women’s Initiative, the women’s organization developed to support and encourage female attorneys on leadership and professional growth. In addition, she works on oversight of the firm's Leadership Equality and Diversity (“LEAD”) Program, compromised of tactical objectives to achieve the firm's ongoing commitment to recruit, retain, and promote female and diverse attorneys to the highest positions of management and ownership at the firm. 

With her guidance, the Gordon & Rees Women’s Initiative has been very successful. In 2020, National Law Journal ranked Gordon & Rees among the Top 25 on the "Women in Law Scorecard." The firm was also recently named a Top 100 Law Firm for Women by WomenInc. Magazine for its female representation and leadership within law firms, and was recognized among the top 25 firms for promoting the highest number of females to partner.

Brenda Radmacher is a noted expert in construction law and is called on as a counselor, litigator, and noted speaker on issues involving land owners, general contractors, developers, and builders. She has a multi-faceted practice handling litigation and providing advice and counsel/transactional support to her construction-industry clients. She has significant experience advising clients on risk management best practices, drafting critical documents and procedures, and effectively resolving disputes. 

Under her leadership, the Gordon & Rees Women in Construction forum was established to promote female members of the construction practice group and to highlight women of influence in the construction industry. She also serves as a member of the Women Construction Owners & Executives California Board, the Associated General Contractors – California, Los Angeles District Board, and the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction – Division 5 Steering Committee, as well as provides training for the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business’ With Your Shield program for Veterans.
