During October 2014, Gordon & Rees partner Carol P. Schaner of Orange County made presentations to eight study groups sponsored by First American Trust, FSB on “2014 Year-End Charitable Planning Strategies.” The 30-35 members of each study group included trust and estate attorneys, tax attorneys, and CPAs practicing in Orange County, California.
Schaner is a partner in Gordon & Rees’s Wealth Management, Probate & Asset Protection Practice Group, where she focuses on taxation (planning and controversy), business planning, charitable giving, representation of nonprofit tax-exempt organizations, and estate planning. She is certified in taxation law by the California Board of Legal Specialization, and is a certified public accountant.
Schaner has been appointed to numerous leadership positions, including serving as a member of the California Board of Legal Specialization and as chair of the Board’s Taxation Law Advisory Commission. She is an adjunct faculty member at the Dale E. Fowler School of Law, Chapman University; The Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice, Inc. at Michigan State University; and The Heritage Institute. Schaner is rated AV pre-eminent by Martindale-Hubbell and she has received the Super Lawyers distinction in the fields of tax, nonprofit, and estate planning and probate.
