On May 20, 2016, Gordon & Rees Partner, Carol P. Schaner, delivered a 90-minute presentation on "The Use of Tax-Exempt Organizations in Estate Planning" during a two-day CalCPA Trust and Estates Committee meeting at the Fess Parker Hotel in Santa Barbara, California. Schaner discussed the types of tax-exempt entities most commonly used in estate planning including public charities, private foundations, private operating foundations, supporting organizations, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and donor advised funds.
Schaner was the only presenter to an audience of experienced Certified Public Accountants who serve on the CalCPA Trust and Estates Committee. The Trust and Estates Committee is dedicated to fostering high-quality services by members of CalCPA in the field of estate planning through education.
