Amy Darby, Office Managing Partner of the Firm’s Tampa office, will co-present along with Paul Bruno, Managing General Counsel of Fluor Corporation, "The Ethics of Privilege: Behind the Walls of Our Conference Rooms, Between the Borders of Our Country and Beyond, How You Can Stop Making Everyday Mistakes That Can Cost You the Attorney-Client Privilege," on April 22, 2017. The presentation will focus on the common misperceptions that occur within corporate culture regarding attorney-client privileged communications, and how to avoid waiving the privilege both domestically and internationally.
The presentation will be part of the ABA’s Construction Law Forum, which this year focuses on “A Capital View: Best Practices in Inside and Outside Construction Counseling.” The overall program addresses the hurdles involved with advising clients in the construction industry. With a special focus on a shifting industry and a changing economy, the program will shed light on cutting-edge topics including: recognizing and responding to cybersecurity risks; navigating employment risks; leveraging recent rule changes to help control the cost of litigation; managing complex litigation to reduce costs without sacrificing quality; insights into the changing role of insurance for construction projects; and, key ethical considerations to ensure protection of privileged communications between in-house counsel and business decision-makers.
