  • Biography
    Barry Flynn is a Partner with GRSM, practicing in the Houston and Dallas offices. Barry also is a member of the Commercial Litigation, White Collar Criminal Defense, Employment, Labor and Franchise practice groups. Throughout his 40-year career he has successfully tried approximately 85 cases to jury verdict and/or final arbitration award in Texas and several other states.
     
    Prior to joining GRSM, Barry was the senior partner at a Houston law firm. He began his legal practice in 1977. He is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
     
    Barry is a member of the Board of Trustees, Secretary and Vice President of Houston's Star of Hope Mission. In addition, Barry is a member of the Board of Trustees of Biblica International, Inc.  He is the father of three sons, all of whom are lawyers as well.

    Representative Experience

    Examples of Mr. Flynn’s extensive range of experience include the following:

    • Successfully tried a tradesmark infringement case and several trade secret cases.
    • Defending clients in SEC enforcement actions and white collar criminal defense.
    • Providing lead counsel for key parties in some of the most complex civil litigation in Houston, Texas, including the Enron Securities litigation and the Waste Management Securities litigation.
    • Consults regularly with and represents businesses and their owners relative to corporate governance controversies, securities issues, controversies with vendors and counter parties to transactions, as well as complex employment disputes.
    • Representing employers in all types of discrimination, wrongful termination and tort/contract claims.
    • Argued over 25 appeals to all Texas Appellate Courts, including the Texas Supreme Court, and on four separate occasions to Federal Courts of Appeal.
    • Lead trial counsel in over 85 jury trials in State and Federal Courts.
