Bennett J. Chin is the Managing Partner of the Hawaiʻi office of GRSM in Honolulu. Bennett’s practice is primarily focused on representing and counseling architects and engineers. He has more than 30 years of experience and was recognized as the 2023 Lawyer of the Year in Construction Law by Best Lawyers in America®. His construction law practice includes construction defect claims, delay impact and loss productivity claims, professional negligence claims, construction contract and payment disputes. Bennett has assisted clients on a wide variety of projects including shopping centers, airports, municipal works, transportation projects, residential projects, hospital projects, commercial high-rises, restaurants and government buildings.
Bennett is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s William S. Richardson School of Law. He frequently gives seminars on loss prevention and risk management and has lectured for numerous organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the American Society of Interior Designers, the Structural Engineers Association of Hawaiʻi, the University of Hawaiʻi School of Architecture, the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley and the Pacific Building Trade Expo.
