Dorothea S. Galdo is an Associate in the Oakland office of GRSM. She represents corporate and product manufacturers in complex tort and products liability litigation with the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group, handling cases in Illinois and California. She is also a member of the firm’s Northern California Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Dorothea’s legal career was inspired by the advocacy work she observed while working at the California Appellate Project in San Francisco (CAP-SF). Since then, Ms. Galdo developed as an advocate in both private and public legal sectors. Dorothea served as a judicial extern for Hon. Magistrate Judge Maria-Elena James (RET.) of the United States District Court, Northern District of California. She was also an extern for Hon. Judge Stuart Hing of the Alameda County Superior Court where she assisted with court facilitation of pre-trial mediation proceedings between parties involved in restraining order disputes. Prior to joining GRSM, Dorothea represented private citizens in landlord-tenant disputes, breach of contract, premises liability claims, and family law matters. Dorothea has also managed and served as co-chair in both civil and criminal trial proceedings.
As a first-generation American, Dorothea personally understands the importance of creating pipelines of access in the legal profession. As president of her law school’s Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), Dorothea organized school wide study programs and seminars to aid first-year law school students with educational and wellness resources, providing better opportunity for academic success. She was also a member of the Present Purpose Network, a women’s collective action fund focused on the power of networking to invest in meaningful philanthropic solutions that impact young women and girls around the world. Dorothea continues to strive in improving racial and cultural representation through social engagement and mentorship.
