    Elizabeth Casey is a Partner in the Chicago office of GRSM and focuses her practice on the representation of individuals, corporations, not-for-profit organizations, and municipalities throughout all stages of complex civil litigation.  Her practice consists of a broad range of tort, commercial, and employment matters in state and federal courts nationwide. She has successfully litigated cases from their inception through trial and frequently resolves cases by way of mediation, arbitration, and dispositive motion practice.

    Since 2020, Elizabeth has been selected to the Illinois Rising Stars list. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

    Elizabeth received her J.D., cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School. While attending law school, she served as a staff and communications editor of The John Marshall Journal of Information Technology & Privacy, a teaching assistant for evidence, and an instructor in torts and property for the Academic Enhancement Program.

  • Representative Experience

    Representative Experience

    • Served as a trial attorney in several multimillion-dollar civil litigation cases, including more than 30 cases involving claims of childhood sexual abuse. 
    • Successfully achieved summary judgment on behalf of a school district and assistant principal in a wrongful death lawsuit predicated on a student’s suicide allegedly brought about by the intentional infliction of emotional distress during a school disciplinary meeting.
    • Secured the dismissal of a national medical device manufacturer in a wrongful death lawsuit in which it was alleged that a wheelchair was manufactured and sold to a nursing home resident with a defect that caused the injuries which led to his death.
    • Represented a large not-for-profit health system and local hospital in two wrongful death lawsuits alleging medical malpractice and secured orders of dismissal with prejudice following contested motion practice.
