    Sandra Schiller is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Banking and Finance, and Real Estate practice groups.

    Sandra focuses her practice on corporate and commercial litigation, with a strong emphasis on complex commercial finance and real estate litigation. Her deep understanding of complex financing transactions, corporate ownership structures, and the unique rules that apply to secured lending and commercial real estate transactions positions her as a valuable resource for her clients.

    Sandra has successfully represented a broad array of clients, including secured and unsecured lenders, borrowers, guarantors, property owners, and developers, in state and federal courts. Her litigation experience includes loan and security enforcement actions, commercial foreclosures, receivership proceedings, lien priority disputes, bankruptcy matters, and the recovery of secured and unsecured assets, both pre- and post-judgment. She has a proven track record of obtaining favorable outcomes for her clients that includes multiple multi-million-dollar judgments entered in favor of lenders in loan enforcement and foreclosure actions. Sandra also has extensive experience defending borrowers and property owners in contested loan enforcement and foreclosure matters.

    Sandra frequently collaborates with local counsel and is admitted pro hac vice as needed to support her clients’ needs nationwide. Beyond litigation, Sandra has experience in negotiating financing agreements and security instruments, including mortgages, assignments of rents and leases, and guaranties, as well as post-default loan resettlements and loan workouts. 

    Sandra earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law, following a Master of Arts in Humanities from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Women’s Studies from Washington University in St. Louis. Before joining GRSM, Sandra practiced at a boutique litigation firm with offices in Maryland and New York.

    • Obtained summary judgment in multiple related loan enforcement cases for a national lender, resulting in over $30 million in judgments and foreclosure order against New York commercial property. 
    • Won a multi-million-dollar loan enforcement action for a Maryland lender against a New York corporate borrower in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
    • Successfully vacated $16 million Maryland confessed judgments against a California developer and guarantors, securing relief for a national lender based on a loan with a confessed judgment clause tied to D.C. commercial property. 
    • Secured a settlement agreement and consent order in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, leading to the dismissal of a borrower’s “bad faith” Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and payment of a pre-existing multi-million-dollar judgment.
    • Obtained civil contempt orders and sanctions against judgment debtors for non-compliance with post-judgment discovery requirements.
