    Sandy Kaplan is a Senior Partner in the Construction practice group. His practice focuses on defect, delay, cost overrun and product liability cases as well as contract review and preparation.

    Sandy represents developers, owners, general contractors and building product manufacturers in multi-party litigation as well as non-litigation business and insurance coverage matters. He has extensive trial experience in subsidence, construction defect, mold, delay and cost over cases and has tried numerous cases to verdict.

    Sandy’s products liability practice focuses on the defense of product manufacturers in asbestos litigation. He has tried several cases to verdict, and in each instance obtained a defense verdict.

    In addition to his trial expertise, Sandy advises owners, developers and contractors on contract preparation and review for both residential and commercial projects. He is also experienced in insurance coverage issues affecting the building trades.

    Sandy is a recognized expert in mediation and dispute resolution, having received a certificate in mediation practice from Harvard Law School. As lead counsel in large multi-party litigations, he has settled numerous multi-million dollar construction defect and dispute cases.

    Sandy lectures extensively on construction related matters. He has also lobbied in Sacramento on behalf of the building and contractors trades where he was involved with the passage of new legislation affecting residential construction.
