Senior Counsel Glen Powell Joins Gordon & Rees’s Southern California Toxic Tort Team in Los Angeles

02/05/2014

With the continuing challenges presented by the asbestos litigation in Los Angeles, Glen R. Powell, senior counsel in Gordon & Rees’s San Francisco office, will relocate to Los Angeles to join our Southern California toxic tort team.

Glen defends clients in a variety of toxic tort matters, including asbestos and herbal supplements, and in contract disputes arising from contaminated foods. He will continue handling such cases out of Gordon & Rees’s Los Angeles office, and bolster the firm’s Southern California toxic tort defense team.

Glen has extensive experience statewide in federal and California state courts handling claims of exposure in shipyards, refineries, construction and other commercial settings against manufacturers of machinery and equipment, including claims against government contractors.  Glen also has significant experience representing distributors and retailers of home decor, herbal supplements and other consumer products.

Glen also has represented corporations in product liability actions against strict liability and design defect claims, including gas water heater manufacturers, pneumatic tool manufacturers and manufacturers of motor vehicles in breach of warranty actions involving California's lemon law.

Glen, who joined Gordon & Rees in 2002, earned his B.A. in political science from the University of California, San Diego, and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco.

Prior to attending college, Glen served in the U.S. Navy, spending two years working in the medical/surgical intensive care unit at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and two years with a Marine Corps battalion working in the areas of epidemiology and preventive medicine.
