On April 14, Gordon & Rees opened a new office in Oakland with attorneys from the Environmental/Toxic Tort Practice Group and the firm's administrative and financial group.
Located on the freshly built out 17th Floor at 1111 Broadway – steps away from the 12th Street Oakland City Center BART station – about 20 attorneys and 110 staff members work in the Oakland location, the firm’s 31st office. David C. Capell, managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco office, also serves as managing partner of the Oakland office.
Having an attorney presence on both sides of the Bay allows Gordon & Rees to strengthen its premium level of client service while keeping overhead costs low. With the addition of the Oakland office, the firm was able to alter its leased space at its San Francisco headquarters, where it now occupies three newly renovated floors at 275 Battery St. in the Financial District. The newly built out spaces on both sides of the Bay provide substantially improved and more efficient working environments.
The attorneys in the Oakland office are all members of the ETT Practice Group, led by partner Michael J. Pietrykowski. Mark Stephens, the firm's executive director, leads the firm's administrative and financial group now based in Oakland, which includes Accounting, HR, Benefits, Payroll, IT, Risk Management/Conflicts, Billing, Collections, Accounts Payable and Financial Systems Services.
