Gordon & Rees Las Vegas partner Robert E. Schumacher has been selected as one of the "Legal Elite 2016: Top Attorneys in Nevada" by Nevada Business magazine. In 2013 and 2014, Schumacher also earned the title of "Legal Elite" and the 2016 vote will be the third time he achieved this standing. Schumacher is recognized for his expertise in the areas of construction claims & defects, commercial litigation and insurance for Southern Nevada.
In its ninth year, "Legal Elite" is an annual report of Nevada's top attorneys who are chosen by their peers. Polling for the 2016 list began in February and more than 6,000 nominations were submitted by licensed attorneys throughout Nevada. According to the State Bar of Nevada's 2015 Annual Report, there are currently 8,818 active member attorneys which is an increase of 321 new licensed attorneys, thus making the competition to earn the "Legal Elite" standing even more challenging.
This year's list includes only the top 3.7 percent of attorneys in Nevada. Before being chosen as a "Legal Elite," each nominated attorney's vote was reviewed for eligibility and each voting attorney was vetted through the State Bar of Nevada to confirm good standing.
Nominated lawyers were scored based on the number and type of votes they received. Nominations from attorneys at other firms received a scoring of three points and nominations from the same firm received one point. After final scores were tabulated, the top scorers were re-verified for accuracy and the "Legal Elite" list was finalized.
Schumacher is managing partner of the Las Vegas office and a member of the Construction and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups. He has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of complex litigation defense, construction, insurance coverage, general liability, commercial litigation, and toxic tort including toxic exposure matters.
