Kelly Lippincott and Damon Wright Join Gordon & Rees as Partners in the Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA Offices

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani welcomes Kelly M. Lippincott and Damon W. D. Wright as partners in the Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA offices. Lippincott will also be a partner in the Baltimore, Maryland office. 

Lippincott joins the firm in the Insurance, Professional Liability Defense, and Tort & General Liability practice groups. She was previously with Carr Maloney P.C. in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. 

Wright will join the firm's Advertising and E-Commerce, Intellectual Property, and Commercial Litigation practice groups. He was previously with Venable, LLP in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

Kelly Lippincott's clients include insurers, manufacturers, distributors, lawyers, title agents, real estate agents, and insurance agents who rely on her to defend civil lawsuits and develop ways to avoid litigation. Lippincott has first-chaired dozens of jury and bench trials in federal and state courts in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. She also has argued before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. 

Lippincott regularly advises insurers on an array of matters and defends insurers in federal and state courts. Lippincott has litigated disputes involving property coverage, life insurance coverage, and additional-insureds, as well as other areas of coverage. She also represents a wide variety of manufacturers and distributors in product liability suits in federal and state courts. She has successfully tried professional liability cases brought against realtors, insurance agents, and attorneys.

Lippincott is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts of the District of Columbia, District of Maryland, Eastern District of Virginia, and Western District of Virginia. She is rated AV Preeminent® by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review system and was honored with the Outstanding Advocacy award, presented by Medmarc, at The 32nd Annual Medical Device Seminar.

Lippincott is a member of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys and previously served as chair of the Professional Liability Section. She is also an active member of the Insurance Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute and a frequent speaker on topics of insurance coverage.

Damon Wright represents web-based businesses, e-commerce retailers, technology companies, affiliate networks, lead generators, and internet entrepreneurs. He focuses on advertising, internet, intellectual property, consumer, regulatory, business tort, and First Amendment law. He has a track record of success handling business disputes, trademark and copyright, false advertising, FTC and state attorney general investigations, defamation, right of publicity, fraud, trade secret, media relations, and other high-stakes matters. 

Wright is outside general counsel to the Subscription Trade Association and the Responsible Traffic Association. Wright maintains an active national litigation practice while also providing responsive day-to-day and long-range strategic advice to help clients protect themselves and achieve smart growth. He frequently writes and speaks on litigation, trial advocacy and internet law.

Wright is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia. He is also admitted in the U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Tax Court; U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Fourth Circuit, and Ninth Circuit; the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, District of Columbia, and District of Maryland. Wright is a member of the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and International Association of Defense Counsel, as well as a member, past board member, and Past President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Wright is rated AV Preeminent® by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review system and has been repeatedly recognized in Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers.

For his service representing an inmate on Alabama’s death row, including ultimately obtaining reversal of his capital murder conviction and death sentence, Wright received the Benjamin R. Civiletti Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award. He was selected as a Diversity Champion by Just the Beginning Foundation—a non-profit founded by African-American federal judges to promote diversity in the legal profession. Wright is outside general counsel to Together We Bake, a non-profit and Alexandria-based job-training and empowerment program that helps women in need of a second chance. He plays percussion in Noise In The Basement, a three-time winner of the annual DC Law Rocks, 9:30 Club event.
