DRI Publishes Product Liability Article Authored by Brent Buyse and Manuel Saldaña

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Los Angeles partner Manuel Saldaña and Dallas associate Brent Buyse authored "Are Open Skies on the Horizon in Specific Jurisdiction Cases?" published in Volume 17 of DRI's Strictly Speaking publication, the newsletter of the Product Liability Committee.

The article examines recently consolidated products liability actions and the issue of personal jurisdiction with the focus on the “arise out of or relate to” aspect with implications for the automotive and aviation industries. The article states, “The outcome of these cases could mark a paradigm shift of the conditions for a court to exercise specific jurisdiction in the absence of a finding of general jurisdiction. For the aviation industry, where recent jurisdictional battles have centered on specific jurisdiction, this could open amenability to suit as wide as the sky.”

Saldaña is Co-Managing partner of the Irvine office of Gordon & Rees and a nationally-recognized trial attorney and litigator.
