September 2023

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, the nation's first and only law firm with offices in all 50 states, welcomes Michael Rumac as a Partner in the firm's Albuquerque office, strengthening the Commercial Litigation, Professional Liability, and Tort & Product Liability practice groups. He concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, professional liability, tort & product liability, pharmaceutical and medical device defense.

Rumac previously was a partner in a national law firm where he handled both jury and bench trials on behalf of business and individual clients. He was previously Managing Attorney of the New Mexico office for a California-based firm practicing in the area of creditor's rights litigation. He handled trials, arbitrations, and hearings on behalf of national banks and other consumer lenders. Upon moving to Albuquerque in 2020, he was an Assistant District Attorney in the Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office, where he worked prosecuting cases in the Major Crimes Unit.

He also has experience in the areas of business and commercial litigation, pharmacist defense, premises liability, real estate litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, and appellate law. He has experience in HOA representation and litigation, trucking defense, employment litigation, and bankruptcy litigation. In addition to first and second-chair trial experience, Rumac has argued in front of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans and the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas, Texas.

We are very excited that Michael is joining our office in Albuquerque," said Ken Ferguson, Co-Managing Partner of the firm's Austin and Albuquerque offices. "He has expertise in a variety of practice areas, which will add significantly to the capabilities of our New Mexico team. In addition to his legal experience in a number of different areas, he was a practicing pharmacist for over ten years. Please join me in welcoming Michael to Gordon & Rees."

Rumac is admitted to practice in New Mexico, Texas, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is also admitted to the District of New Mexico federal court and the Western District of Arkansas federal court.  He earned his law degree from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.

Gordon & Rees is actively strengthening its presence in New Mexico, demonstrating a commitment to expanding its legal footprint in the region. The recent addition of Rumac to the firm's roster represents a pivotal step in this strategic growth. This move is complemented by the appointment of Laura Ackermann as Co-Managing Partner for the Albuquerque office earlier this month. These developments underscore Gordon & Rees' dedication to providing comprehensive legal services and bolstering its capabilities to serve clients in this thriving market.
