Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Associate Haley Zhu-Butler will serve as a panelist for a discussion entitled “Are We Asian Enough? The Invisible Immigrants Stuck in Between” at the 2023 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association ("NAPABA") Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 11, 2023.
Ms. Zhu-Butler will discuss what it means to be an Asian American adoptee and offer guidance to law students on how to navigate the legal field as a minority within a minority group. Law students will learn how to define and tackle diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in law school and the workplace while building strong networks and support systems within the legal community. Ms. Zhu-Butler currently serves as a co-chair of NAPABA’s Asian American Adoptee Network.
Ms. Zhu-Butler is an Associate in the Hartford office. She focuses her practice on product liability, data privacy, and Artificial Intelligence ("AI"). She holds a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Tulane University, where she studied AI and Natural Language Processing. Ms. Zhu-Butler is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States ("CIPP/US") by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
NAPABA is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students, representing the interests of over 50,000 attorneys through nearly 75 state and local bar associations. The organization provides a strong voice for increased diversity of the federal and state judiciaries, advocates for equal opportunity in the workplace, works to eliminate hate crimes and anti-immigrant sentiment, and promotes the professional development of people of color in the legal profession.
