Gretchen Harris Sperry, Co-Chair of the firm's Appellate Practice Group, was recently elected as a Member of the American Law Institute ("ALI").
The ALI is a private, independent, nonprofit organization that publishes Restatements of the Law, Principles of the Law, and Model Codes to further its mission to clarify, modernize, or otherwise improve the law to promote the better administration of justice. Members are selected through a confidential nomination process submitted by ALI members, ensuring a diverse and qualified pool of candidates based on their experience and contributions.
Ms. Sperry has represented clients in numerous state and federal courts of review, including the United States Supreme Court. As a former appellate court clerk, she is highly skilled in drafting and arguing critical motions and appeals. She has also developed particular proficiency in working with trial teams as embedded appellate counsel to fortify the trial record, argue critical pre-trial and post-trial motions, monitor trial proceedings, and develop appellate strategy in complex commercial litigation, high-exposure catastrophic injury cases, mass torts, constitutional litigation, and labor and employment matters.
