    Greg Hearing is a litigator in the Denver office of GRSM. His practice focuses on the representation of businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation.  To that end, he regularly handles matters concerning commercial claims, professional liability disputes, and product liability claims.  Additionally, he represents insurers in coverage and first party bad faith actions.  Greg works with clients ranging from individual professionals and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. This includes significant experience in the representation of energy and utility companies in a wide variety of matters. 

    Greg assists his clients in achieving favorable results through a practice that covers all aspects of litigation. This includes the development of litigation strategies intended to strengthen his clients’ position through discovery and motions practice.  He routinely appears in both state and federal court in Colorado and Wyoming where he has litigated multiple matters to judgment and through appeal.  

    Greg serves as a member of the University of Colorado Law School Law Alumni Board and on the American Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Committee. He writes in the areas of products liability, tort liability, and the attorney-client privilege. A Colorado native, he joined GRSM after graduating from the University of Colorado Law School. Where he was recognized as the top oral advocate in his class.

    Experience

    • Obtained a complete defense judgment for a prominent local attorney following a multi-week bench trial in which the plaintiff alleged damages in excess of $10 million. 
    • Secured the dismissal of claims brought by multiple developers against client concerning alleged overbilling for the installation of gas and electric facilities.  
    • Obtained the dismissal of claims against international energy company alleging misappropriation of trade secrets. 
    • Obtained summary judgment for accounting firm in response to claims of professional liability and breach of fiduciary duty arising from the preparation of client financials.
    • Obtained summary judgment for law firm in a legal malpractice action alleging damages arising from an intra-family ownership dispute of a trophy ranch in Southwest Colorado.
    • Obtained voluntary dismissal of automobile electronics manufacturer following claims of personal injury arising from the alleged failure of client’s product in a catastrophic car accident.
    • Successfully resolved wrongful death claims against farm implement manufacturer.
    • Successfully resolved numerous cases involving injuries from gas explosions. 
    • Obtained summary judgment for insurer in action arising under builders’ risk policy for alleged soft costs.
    • Obtained summary judgment for insurer in claims concerning builders’ risk policy and alleged damage to a large library at a private university.
    • Obtained summary judgment for insurer on issues of first impression in New Mexico concerning application of earth movement exclusion.
    • Obtained dismissal of statutory bad faith claims against insurer for claims arising from hail damage at a multi-unit condominium complex.
