Risk Management – Conflict Clerk (1-2 years)

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, a national law firm, has an immediate opening for a Risk Management -Conflict Clerk, working remotely in an Eastern Time Zone. Ideal candidates will be responsible for client matter maintenance/conflicts and observe confidentiality in all Client/Firm matters. Medium to large law firm experience is preferred.  Candidates should also have a minimum two years’ experience related to the duties or skills described herein (e.g., general research, paralegal, or project assistance experience) or one year direct conflicts experience in a law firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct conflict of interest search requests and effectively handle matter intake through conclusion. Make decisions regarding actions to be taken, including assessment of complex or unusual requests, making decisions about interpretation of conflicts data, and/or determining techniques or methods to be used to resolve conflicts.
  • Analyze conflicts reports, make informed recommendations and highlight potential conflicts for attorney review.
  • Communicate and disseminate conflict of interest information orally or in writing, following up with lawyers and others as needed to handle all due diligence and ensure that files are complete and up-to-date.
  • Conduct research using third-party business resources for all new clients and for other assigned work as needed.
  • Serve as an informational and procedural resource for attorneys and staff regarding the lateral and new hire conflict process, and related department policies.
  • Actively maintain working knowledge of the applicable rules of professional conduct, client relationship considerations, and related developments.
  • Participate in or manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed and approved, including weekend and holiday e-mail and conflict check coverage shared with other staff on a rotating, calendared basis.
  • Consistently contribute to the department work product by communicating and collaborating in a manner that enhances individual and team productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Professional demeanor is required
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with attorneys, management and staff
  • Must be able to prioritize, multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high-level work product
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Must also exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Excellent project management skills and relevant experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Proficiency using on-line research tools and databases such as Intapp OPEN, Aderant, Dunn & Bradstreet, Hoovers
  • College and work-related experience preferred

Salary Range - $40,000 - $60,000
