    Stephen R. Ginger is Senior Counsel in the Los Angeles office of GRSM. He has tried more than 40 cases to verdict and has argued cases in the California state and federal appellate courts. Prior to joining GRSM, Steve was in-house counsel for a major general aviation manufacturer where he handled all matters relating to human resources, employment litigation, salaried and union employment disputes, worker’s compensation, commercial litigation, contracts, general commercial and aviation products insurance, accident investigation and products liability litigation. Steve obtained his private pilot’s certificate in 2006.

    Steve’s employment experience includes providing general corporate advice, conducting employee investigations, management training for employment risk mitigation, and implementing best practices programs for the investigation and processing of wrongful termination, FMLA and worker’s compensation claims.

  • Representative Experience
    • Established and implemented successful defense strategy in workers compensation retaliation case in which the employee staged an accident by falling off an airplane wing shortly after being placed on a performance improvement plan.

    • Obtained summary judgment in general discrimination case involving a female manager who was terminated for inappropriate and demeaning comments to team members in the workplace.  Manager was replaced with another female manager, thereby undermining plaintiff’s claim for gender discrimination.

    • Drafted and filed petitions for certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court in two cases involving federal civil procedure and federal treaty interpretation.

    • Trial counsel in mass disaster litigation arising from the Soviet shoot down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 over the Sea of Japan, and the Thai Airways Flight 311 crash near Kathmandu, Nepal where the pilot, in instrument meteorological conditions, inadvertently flew the Airbus A310 aircraft into a box canyon in the Himalayan Mountains.

    • Trial counsel in insurance subrogation lawsuit associated with the United States Space Program and arising from the double satellite failures of the Westar VI and Palapa B-2 satellites after deployment from the Space Shuttle Challenger.  Obtained defense verdict for upper stage rocket booster manufacturer after six month jury trial.
