Jason C. Kalkirtz Joins Gordon & Rees as Senior Counsel in D.C. Area Offices

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani welcomes Jason C. Kalkirtz as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Alexandria and Washington, D.C. offices. His addition strengthens the firm’s existing Business Transactions, Advertising & E-Commerce, Consumer Protection Litigation, Government Regulatory & Administrative Law, and Intellectual Property practice groups.

Kalkirtz focuses his practice on regulatory, transactional, litigation, and compliance matters involving a variety of consumer products, including food, beverage, dietary supplement, medical food, drug, medical device, and cosmetic products. He has in-depth experience navigating the evolving regulatory landscape at both the federal and state level. In particular, he counsels clients with regulatory compliance matters relating to FDA, FTC, USDA, U.S. Customs, EPA, TTB, and Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations.

He advises clients at all stages of product development and advertising compliance. With a technical background in biological science (with a concentration in chemistry), he is comfortable analyzing scientific literature to aid his clients in the successful navigation of the complexities of government regulations. He regularly reviews and provides feedback on advertising creative with an eye toward minimizing risk while maintaining high conversion.  

His practice includes counseling on labeling requirements and marketing claims for all media, including websites, social media, print, radio, and television advertising for compliance with applicable regulations. He has substantial experience evaluating consumer product claims including nutrient content, health, disease, structure/function, and qualified health claims. Kalkirtz regularly defends clients in challenges from the FDA, USDA, FTC, State Attorney Generals, false advertising class action lawsuits, and before the Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division.

He is admitted to practice in Illinois. 

He earned his law and undergraduate degree from University of Illinois Chicago and M.B.A. from Dominican University.
