August 2023

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, the nation's first and only law firm with offices in all 50 states, welcomes Thomas C. Kus as a partner in the firm's Indianapolis office. He will practice in the Environmental/Toxic Tort, Drug & Medical Device, Product & General Liability, and Commercial Litigation practice groups.

Kus is a litigator and counselor with over 25 years of experience in product liability, mass torts, toxic torts, environmental, and general commercial matters. He devotes the majority of his practice to defending manufacturers and sellers of medical devices, automated controls, gas valves, and other consumer products in product liability and mass tort litigation in state and federal courts across the country.

He has represented both defendants and plaintiffs in environmental matters involving petroleum contamination, industrial solvents, hazardous wastes and their disposal, and pesticide drift and has counseled clients on environmental cleanups and remediations. Kus has significant experience in fact and expert discovery, pre-trial motion practice, trials, and appellate proceedings. He is particularly versed in multidistrict and federal court procedure, dispositive motions, Rule 702–Daubert motion practice, motions in limine, and the evidentiary issues that arise in complex litigation.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Tom to the Indiana office," said Brittney Rykovick, Co-Managing Partner of the Indianapolis office. "Tom is a well-seasoned attorney who will be a valuable asset to our team, both locally and nationally. We look forward to working alongside Tom as we expand the firm's footprint in Indiana."

Kus is a senior master in the Benjamin Harrison American Inn of Court and a member of the Indiana State Bar Association's Litigation Section. He is active in his local community as a member of the Canterbury School Development Committee and the Downtown Fort Wayne Rotary Club. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, serving as pro bono counsel for the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) in DACA, U visa, and asylum matters and as a member of the NIJC’s Indiana Advisory Council.

Kus is admitted to practice in Indiana, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He earned his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he was awarded Dean's Honors and a fellowship. He earned his undergraduate degree with distinction from the University of Michigan.
